Removing Grease and Oil Stains from your Upholster

As we like to maintain a clean home, so do we try to maintain the life of our vehicle, however whether it’s you or your service technician, between trips from under the hood to behind the wheel, your car’s upholstery is bound to rack up some grease spots. But don’t despair, there are simple methods to removing those unsightly grease and oil spots and returning your car’s upholstery to it’s pristine condition again.




Method number one:

• First blot or scrape (using a old table knife, metal paint scraper or plastic spoon) away excess grease or oil from the upholstery.

• Second squeeze a small amount of grease cutting liquid dish detergent directly on the stain and allow it to sit undisturbed for three to five minutes.

• Third, blot the stain with a dry paper towel to soak up the detergent, then use a damp sponge or cloth to remove the remaining detergent. Rinse and wring the cloth or sponge several times until the deterrent has been removed.


Method number two:

• First blot or scrape (using a old table knife, metal paint scraper or plastic spoon) away excess grease or oil from the upholstery.

• Second place a brown paper bag or sack over the grease stain and then using a warm iron, iron over the bag and the grease or oil with absorb into the paper. You can also use wax paper, shiny side down, in lea of a paper bag.

• Third, rub the remaining stain with a sprayable carpet shampoo, finish by blotting the shampoo up with a dry towel.
